The Nurture Room preschool

The Nurture Room preschool opens in September 2024 and will be based in the old school building in Cubbington Church of England Primary School, which is being purposely renovated for use as a nursery for children aged 2 years to 5 years. The space includes a large main classroom, breakout area for messy play and meal times and a wonderful garden space for sole use by the preschool children, which they have free flow access to throughout the day.

Children will be led and supported by a team of experienced and well qualified staff with a ratio of 1 adult to around 6 children, supporting us as a team to get to know the children as individuals and have high quality and meaningful interactions throughout the day.

Our day

Sessions at The Nurture Room preschool will run from 8.45 am to 3.15pm Monday to Friday. A number of morning only sessions (8.45–11.45) and afternoon only sessions (12.15–3.15) are also available. We think carefully about how each session is planned and how we spend our time. Throughout the course of the morning your child will participate in the following:

Welcome

Children are welcomed into the nursery and supported to follow a morning routine to develop their independence including hanging up their bag and coat and self-registration. We begin the morning with circle time in “home” groups, an opportunity for children to connect with the team and each other, followed by a speaking and listening game to develop their communication skills.

Explore & learn

Children are able to freely explore activities and resources on offer. These will match children’s level of development and aim to extend and enhance their thinking and learning. We believe in using a wide variety of open-ended resources to help spark imagination and stimulate thinking. During this child-led play time, the children are supported by experienced teachers and Early Years educators who help guide and challenge their play and ideas where appropriate.

Teacher led time

Throughout the session we have a number of times that we come together in children’s “home” groups. These include circle time and story time when we introduce key ideas and new vocabulary which can then be consolidated and built on through subsequent play.

Meal times

After story time, we have a snack of fruit and a choice of a drink of water or milk. This is included as part of the session.

Lunchtime is an important time to refuel our bodies but also a time to develop important social and life skills. For lunch, families have the choice to purchase a meal provided by the school (provided by Educaterers) at a cost of £2.85 per day, or provide a packed lunch. Dietary and cultural requirements can be catered for, please talk to us about your child’s needs.

During the week we may also cook things together which are offered to the children such as smoothies, ice lollies, fruit salad and healthy cookies as part of learning about healthy eating. We also run Taste Ed as part of circle times, a programme encouraging children to taste and eat a wide range of fruit and vegetables.

The outdoors

The outdoor environment is an extension of our indoor environment. We spend lots of time outside everyday no matter what the weather. We take advantage of the fact that space can help develop children’s gross motor skills in addition to offering them lots of open-ended activities that challenge their thinking. We have dedicated Forest School sessions as part of the curriculum where we spend time in the Forest School in Cubbington Primary school led by a qualified forest school leader. This develops children’s knowledge and appreciation for nature and the outdoors as well as many other skills as part of the EYFS curriculum.

Ages

The Nurture Room Preschool is primarily for children aged 2–5. However, children can start at the nursery aged 2 years.

Opening times

Our sessions run from 8.45am-3.15pm with a limited number of morning only (8:45am-11:45am) and afternoon only (12:15-3:15) sessions. The sessions will run Monday to Friday during term time following the Warwickshire Schools calendar. We will be closed for 5 INSET days across the year which we will use for team training.

Fees

The cost for a daily session is £45 per child.

Where children are eligible for early years funding, The Nurture Room will apply this to the morning session (8.45–11.45) and an afternoon session (12.15–3.15) with a half an hour lunch session being charged at £12.50. This charge covers the lunch time slot, as well as additional costs associated with the high quality provision including snacks and consumable resources, all trips and outings, specialist teachers and the high ratio of adults to children.

Government childcare tax free scheme

We accept childcare vouchers and the tax free childcare scheme meaning that the government will provide 20% of the childcare cost up to £2,000 per year per child if you are eligible and choose to pay via this method.

Universal credit

If you claim universal credit you may be eligible to claim up to 85% of your childcare costs.
